Joseph Cephas Jefferson, Sr
was born in September 1879 in Jarvisburg, North Carolina. His father was Henry Jefferson and his mother was Jeanette Dozier. He was one of six siblings, and grew up on a farm.
LENA BRAY
was born on April 9, 1885 in Currituck County, North Carolina. Her father was William Bray, and her mother was Elizabeth Bray. Lena was one of four children.
Joseph Jefferson and Lena Bray met in Currituck County, North Carolina. They were married there on December 20, 1899. From their union, eighteen children were born.
